The Machines Dance

This was a track that I had created after doing a bunch of tracks that had guitar and other organic instruments in them, I just wanted a break. It originally had vocals, and was the instrumental was repeated a second time to accommodate all of them. I have since deleted that version because it was too weird -- the vocals, I ended up not liking them. I will post what lyrics I remember. The music I really like, although it's a bit incoherent.

The machines, all gather around
One by one tie us all down
"Stop struggling human, you're stuck with us now"

I saw, a reflection of me
I lost my humanity
When I look at myself, eyes cold and icy

The machines dance.
The machines dance.

Uprising, deathbots in pursuit
I'll be the first they execute
We have no one else to blame
This year there will be death in --- June.

The machines dance
The machines dance
The machines dance

I saw a reflection of me,
I lost my humanity
When I look at myself, eyes cold and icy

The machines dance
Fuck!
The machines dance

Uprising, deathbots in pursuit
I'll be the first they execute
We have no one else to blame
This year there will be death in --- June.

The machines dance
Human holocaust
Human holocaust
Human holocaust

Takin' us all away
Wipe the tears from your face
Didn't expect this, did ya now?
The machines dance - away.

Hey Gravaged, lovely music as always! I really like the relaxing and chill vibes that this track gives off! The only thing that seemed off to me would be at 0:24 when that extremely dissonant note plays. While this could be for artistic effect, because it happens without musical context or warning, and that it only happens once in the song, it only feels like a playing mistake.
The drum loop, because it alternates between a normal beat and a semi-filler, really increases its repetitiveness and makes it feel blander. Even for a chill track, bland is not necessarily serving the song.
But overall, I really like it! The music isn't incoherent as you say it is, in fact even with dissonance, it all mixed together nicely.

Thank you, Ava! I love dissonance and work with it as much as I can, but often times I don't want to alienate the listener. Upon review of the section, it doesn't only play once -- however the volume spikes there for some reason. If I had to guess it would be because the velocity may have been higher there, so I can see how that would come out of the blue. Melodically though it was very much intentional. In the original vocal version of it, immediately after I say "The Machines Dance" a certain time, it plays and gives a sense of robotic movement (that's the thought process anyway.). Simultaneously, the drum pattern was also very much intentional as when I heard it - I felt like it had a very robotic rhythmic motion to it.

Without the vocals though there's really no indication. Thank you for your feedback, and the respectful regard for something potentially being artistic choice as it can be hard to tell (with music from anyone). I do the same thing. Thanks again!
