Speaking Chinese

Post by GLSTOONZ » Sat Jun 30, 2018 12:40 am

Foreign languages are cool. I have developed a habit to studying Chinese (simplified). I like both the language and the food they make here in the US. Here's a sample of some of the words I know in Chinese already:

我星期一在吃苹果。
I will eat an apple on Monday.

我们是人。
We are people.

那是火。
That is fire.

Do you guys know any foreign languages. My favorite happens to be Chinese. :D

Oh foreign languages, they've followed me my whole life :D

I was born in Greece, learnt Greek (1. language). Then started in the third grade I think with English (2. language). Then when i was 11/12 I moved to Germany (3. language). And thanks to one of the many "awesome" features of this "sophisticated" German education system I am forced to take Spanish lessons until I have my "German A level". (4. language)

I don't know, I used to like learning foreign languages, but with Spanish it is just tiring and ridiculous. I am nineteen years old and I have to write vocabulary tests like I did when I was ten or so, that's a bit ridiculous. The bright side of things is that I am in the same Spanish class with DonJorge so things are a bit funnier this way xD

As for Chinese, that's another league we are talking about here, a language for the really motivated ones :D

I've made some Chinese literature in my DA gallery in the Chinese folder. They have both Chinese and English in each of them.

Just discovered this thread! My native tongue is Norwegian, but I'm told my english is native level as well. I have studied russian for a while, and I can understand many basic conversations, but there is still a long way to go.

I have also wanted to get into chinese, GLSTOONZ, what methods/services do you use when studying?

I have an app on my phone called Chineseskill and has lots of words in there that you can learn from. You can learn either simplified or traditional dialect. I don't think it's mandarin though. I think it's called Pinyin.

I read it as "Chinese Kill" -- I took Chinese in 8th grade and I was pretty good at it but I've lost all that now. Pinyin are the actual Chinese characters that are written.

English is my native tongue. I took Latin for 2 years in highschool, remnants of it are in my memory but I didn't really have a reason to use it for a few years so it just faded -- but it helped me understand parts of the Romantic languages as a whole. Briefly, I tried learning German and was surprised at how close it felt to English. Then again, English is a Germanic language. I know very basic words, but no conversational skills or anything. I never took a class for Spanish, but because an overwhelming majority of kitchen workers at a restaurant I worked at were Hispanic -- I started picking up on very informal Spanish conversation. I am nowhere near fluent but I can understand basic things, a little more than that.

I'm currently in the processes of taking Latin, which is a lot of fun. Also learning classical Greek in that class too. But that's about it¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Damn I am also forced to take Spanish and I absolutely hate it too XD

Not because of the language, but because I hate learning yet another language right now lol

Yeah, plus I feel like I've learned more during my first year of Latin than in all 4 years of Spanish. Most of the words have revolved around murder though tbh

That's the best sentence ever.

For me, speaking chinese is sooo difficult, and other like Latin, I couldn't learn these, dude.

Great job to the people who's speaking another language 👌

Yeah it can be difficult to learn a language like when a sentence structure is new to you like...

这个女孩在吃梨。
That girl is eating a pear.

我在喝白色的牛奶。
I am drinking white milk.

Being from Wales learning welsh is something that's forced upon me by the curriculum, so, by default I can speak welsh and english, however my school also puts us through french and spanish, so I guess I can technically speak 4 languages, if at basic levels.
I'm very lonely please help

这里有说中文的人?我是在中国出生的,在个城市叫成都,在四川。我很小的时候从中国搬到来美国,所以英语和中文都可以说。

Translation: There's people that speak Chinese here? I was born in China, in a city called Chengdu, it's in Sichuan (Szechuan). When I was very young I moved from China to the US, so I can speak both languages.

Maybe I'll master the chinese language someday both simplified and traditional. It'll take time though lol.

My native language is German, I learned English and Russian at school, but I'm way better in English than in Russian
I consider Chinese to be very interesting, but different words depending on the emphasis sounds very difficult to me :D
